Sunnyside One - Wyreside Lakes

Sunnyside One is a six-acre water situated at the Wyreside Lakes complex in Lancashire. It is a mature, tree-lined lake established from a former gravel pit, offering a natural and secluded angling experience. The lake bed is predominantly gravel, with various features including gravel bars, troughs, and silty pockets. Depths vary significantly, ranging from three feet in the margins to a central channel that drops to twelve feet. This variation in topography provides diverse angling opportunities throughout the year.

The lake features 18 purpose-built, wood-chipped swims, many of which offer ample space for modern bivvy setups and equipment. Several swims are designated as double swims, catering to social anglers. The swims are well-spaced, affording anglers their own water without excessive pressure from neighbouring pegs. Margins are a key feature, with overhanging trees and reed-lined banks providing cover for carp. Stalking in these areas can be highly effective. The lake's central area contains prominent gravel bars that act as patrol routes for the resident fish. Locating these features with a marker float or leading around is critical for consistent results. While there are no islands, the underwater features provide sufficient targets.

The water is generally clear, allowing for observation of fish movement, particularly during warmer months. It is known as an action water, with a high stock density of carp. This makes it suitable for anglers seeking consistent sport, including those new to carp fishing or experienced anglers looking for a high-volume session. The resident carp are known to be hard-fighting. While primarily a carp water, Sunnyside One also holds a population of other species, including pike to over 20lbs, tench, bream, roach, and perch, offering variety for the general coarse angler.
