Elphicks Fisheries comprises a complex of seven mature, purpose-built carp lakes, each offering a distinct angling experience. The venue caters to a broad spectrum of carp anglers, from those seeking their first double-figure fish to seasoned specimen hunters targeting UK fifties and sixties. The flagship water is the North Lake, a challenging 6-acre pit renowned for its low stock of exceptionally large, old carp. This is a campaign water where captures are hard-earned, demanding precise baiting, watercraft, and patience. It holds the complex's largest residents, with fish exceeding 60lb. Pullens Lake, at 7 acres, is another premier specimen water, holding a significant head of carp over 40lb and 50lb. It is considered a challenging but rewarding water, with features including islands and varied depths that require a thoughtful approach. For anglers seeking high-stock, action-orientated fishing, the Prairie Lake is the primary choice. At 4 acres, it contains a large number of carp, predominantly doubles and twenties, making it ideal for beginners, juniors, or those wanting consistent runs. It serves as an excellent introduction to the Elphicks complex. Plantation Lake is a 6-acre water that offers a middle ground. It holds a good head of thirties and forties, providing a step up from Prairie without the extreme difficulty of the North Lake. It features numerous islands and underwater features, rewarding anglers who can locate and fish them effectively. Kettles Lake, at 3 acres, is a runs water with a twist, containing a high stock of carp to over 30lb, but also a significant number of catfish to over 80lb, offering a different challenge. The West End Lake is a smaller, 2-acre water stocked with a high number of carp, mainly in the double-figure to 20lb bracket, making it suitable for shorter sessions and day tickets. Finally, the Sandwich Lake is a 1-acre pond designed for pleasure and match-style fishing, heavily stocked with smaller carp and a variety of silver fish, perfect for coarse anglers or for guaranteeing bites. The lakes are former gravel pits, characterised by classic features such as gravel bars, silty gullies, plateaus, and marginal shelves. Depths vary across the complex, from shallow marginal areas of 2-3 feet to deeper spots reaching 14 feet in lakes like Pullens. All lakes are maintained to a high standard, with well-constructed swims and good access, reflecting the fishery's long-standing reputation within the UK carp scene.
