Monument 1 - 8.6-Acre Premium Day Ticket Lake in Shropshire

RH Fisheries

About This Venue

Monument 1 at RH Fisheries stands as one of the most prestigious and professionally managed day ticket carp fisheries in the United Kingdom, representing the pinnacle of what can be achieved when vision, investment, and uncompromising standards combine to create a truly exceptional angling experience. Created in 2002 by Rob Hales, this remarkable 8.6-acre venue was purpose-built from the ground up with a single vision - to provide day ticket anglers with a realistic opportunity to catch the fish of a lifetime while enjoying facilities and standards that rival the finest private syndicate waters.

The stock composition at Monument 1 reads like a specimen hunter's ultimate fantasy, featuring a carefully managed population of 350 prime carp that has been meticulously selected and maintained to provide the perfect balance between fishing pressure and fish quality. The impressive statistics speak for themselves - over 85 fish exceeding the magical 30lb barrier ensure that successful sessions frequently result in truly memorable captures, while the 14 specimens surpassing 40lb provide the constant excitement of potentially landing something exceptional. The crowning glory of this remarkable stock is 'The Kraken,' the magnificent lake record holder at 65lb 4oz.

The transformative renovation completed in 2016 represents one of the most significant and bold fishery management decisions in modern carp fishing history. The decision to completely drain the lake and remove all underwater features was initially controversial but has proven to be a masterstroke of fishery management. By eliminating the bars, plateaus, and other structures that previously concentrated fish in specific areas, the renovation created a scenario where carp now patrol and feed throughout the entire lake body.

The marginal shelf system represents perhaps the most innovative and successful design feature of Monument 1, creating a natural feeding highway that carp use extensively throughout the day and across all seasons. This 2-foot deep shelf extends approximately one rod length from the bank before dropping into the main lake depth, providing an accessible and productive area that rewards both traditional bottom bait approaches and more modern margin-focused tactics.

The infrastructure and facilities at Monument 1 set the gold standard for commercial carp fishing venues, with every detail designed and maintained to the highest possible standards. The 15 stone-chipped swims represent a significant investment in angler comfort and environmental protection, while the comprehensive facilities package includes modern power showers, immaculate toilet facilities, and 24-hour CCTV security.
